I See You
I see you when you don’t see me and you wonder who you are, who you have become. I see you.
When you’re in the depths of despair, not understanding the world around you. I see you.
When you’re the little boy, playing with his brother, respecting his mother, being cheeky to his nanny. I see you.
When you’re lost in your favourite John Wayne movie, always playing the hero, and capturing the baddies, I see you.
When you’re lambing the sheep, calving the cows, and ploughing those fields with furrows so straight. I see you.
So many times, happy times, to relive and you do that so well. Your memory is so sharp, vivid and colourful. I see you.
In the dead of the night, when it’s cold and dark and you feel you are alone. You are frightened. I see you.
Sometimes, when others are looking after you, my precious Dad and we are connected only by CCTV. I hear you and I see you.
We are forever connected, you and I. I relax when you are sleeping and I know when you are waking, and I see you.
This is really tough; it’s hard knowing that there’s not much that I can do to make things better but I hope you know that you’re not invisible, Dad. I see you.
